DUBAI: Turkish women continue to break barriers in aviation. Gökçe Kübra Yıldırım has become the first Turkish woman to captain the Airbus A380, the world’s largest passenger aircraft.

With years of experience as a first officer, Yıldırım has now taken command of the A380, marking a historic achievement in her career. Her journey from an intern at Turkish Airlines (TK) to a captain at a major Dubai-based airline is a testament to dedication and perseverance.

Gökçe Kübra Yıldırım‘s journey in aviation began with an internship at THY Teknik, the aircraft maintenance subsidiary of Turkish Airlines.

After completing her training, she joined the airline’s Airbus fleet as a first officer, gaining valuable experience in commercial aviation.

Seeking new opportunities, Yıldırım transitioned to an airline in Dubai, where she continued flying the Airbus A380.

After years of dedication and expertise, she has now reached the prestigious rank of captain, making her the first Turkish woman to achieve this milestone on the A380.

Yıldırım‘s promotion to captain represents more than just a personal achievement. It is a significant moment in Turkish aviation history.

Her success highlights the increasing presence of women in the aviation industry, an area traditionally dominated by men.

She shared her excitement and gratitude on social media, stating:

“This journey, which I started nearly 12 years ago, has brought me to the captain’s seat today. Every step, every challenge, and every achievement has shaped me.

This profession is not just a job but a part of my life. I am deeply grateful to everyone who has supported me along the way. I am now officially an Airbus A380 captain.”

Yıldırım‘s success serves as an inspiration to young women pursuing careers in aviation.

Her achievement reinforces the message that perseverance and dedication can break barriers, paving the way for more women to enter the field.

With her historic promotion, Yıldırım not only makes history but also encourages a new generation of female pilots to chase their dreams, proving that the sky is truly the limit.
