BANGKOK: Managing Director PTDC, Ch. Abdul Ghafoor Khan during his visit to Thailand met Pol. Col. Nithithorn Chintakanon, Deputy Commander of Tourist Police Division office and told that the government is committed to promote and develope tourism in Pakistan and wanted to uplift the foreign exchange earning industry by showcasing the country as a tourist-friendly destination.

Ghafoor told that to provide best possible security to the tourists the Government of Pakistan would introduce a special police force for the tourists on Thailand’s pattern.

“We will establish a tourism police force on the model of Thailand to provide security for incoming tourists,” he said.

He invited the deputy commander to visit Pakistan to assist Pakistan in formulation of the said force and their visit will be hosted by PTDC.

“Tourism is a tool for economic and social development for any country and there is a need to concentrate on religious, sports and cultural values of our society and portray a positive image of Pakistan to the rest of the world,” he said.

MD appreciated the initiatives and policies of Thai Government for promotion and provision of facilities to the tourist, which resulted in a remarkable tourist flow in Thailand. He added that Government of Pakistan is considering simplifying the visa procedure so that more tourists may visit Pakistan every year. There are numerous holy places of Buddhism in Pakistan where Thai people can perform their religious rituals and also enjoy Pakistani culture.

Meanwhile, Chintakanon assured Ghafoor that Thailand’s Tourist Police Division would extend maximum support for establishing the tourist police force in Pakistan. He also accepted the invitation for a visit to Pakistan.

The PTDC Managing Director also visited the World Medical Centre Hospital in Bangkok where he met the hospital’s director, Professor Adisorn Patradul, and exchanged information regarding medical tourism in Pakistan.
