Promoting Inbound Tourism | Pakistan Participates In SCO Tourism Forum 2023

URUMQI: Pakistan Represented in the SCO High level Tourism Forum 2023 at Urumqi China High level delegations from the member-states of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), international and regional organizations as well as representatives of well-known in the region tourist associations took part in the “Year of Tourism 2023 Forum at International Exhibition Centre of China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region (XUAR) in Urumqi from 23 to 25 September, 2023.

The event involves over 300 leaders of tourism organizations, representatives of international organizations, government and business entities, tourism experts, and diplomats from Pakistan, China, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Iran, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Sri Lanka, Qatar, Algeria, Morocco and Uzbekistan.

A Four members’ delegation from Pakistan headed by Additional Secretary Cabinet Division, Mr. Hammad Shamimi was represented by Mr. Aftab ur Rehman Rana, Managing Director of PTDC, Mr. Ahmed Shafiq, CEO of COTHM and Ms. Fareena Arshad, Permanent Representative of Pakistan to the SCO Secretariat.

This forum was an initiative to promote tourism in the SCO region and to encourage cooperation between the member countries. Discussion held in different sessions to foster collaboration between the SCO member countries in the tourism industry, to share best practices, and to develop strategies for the development of the tourism sector for the socio-economic growth in the region. On the sidelines of the event, Pakistani delegation also had conversations with various heads of delegations and especially with the Chines counterparts to promote bilateral truism between China and Pakistan.
