DUBAI: Emirates airline has denied any plans of cutting back on its existing workforce, a Gulf News report quoting a spokesperson of the airline said. The Dubai-based carrier was responding to media reports on Tuesday that it is laying off “dozens” of its staff to streamline its operations. Emirates continues to hire new employees and has no immediate plans to reduce its existing workforce, the spokesperson said. The airline, however, confirmed that it has cut back on recruitment of additional personnel, as it utilises existing human resources to maintain its operations.

A volcano on Alaska’s Aleutian Island chain that has erupted frequently in the past eight months has sent up another ash cloud, leading an agency to issue a warning to aviation. Frequent eruption of the volcano can prove very dangerous for the aviation industry of the region around. The Alaska Volcano Observatory says the Bogoslof volcano erupted at 10:15 a.m. Saturday Alaska time, creating an ash cloud that rose to 5.6 miles (9 kilometers) above sea level. The agency issued a red warning/alert to aviation because of the ash cloud. Bogoslof has erupted periodically since mid-December.

It looked at speeds of free airport Wi-Fi and local cellular signals at the busiest airline hubs. LONDON: The transport management of UK has announced that more trains will serve Heathrow Airport and a western rail link. Alongside the introduction of Oyster and Contactless gates at Heathrow from May 2018, TfL and department of transport have agreed for two Crossrail, Elizabeth Line trains to stop at Terminal 5 every hour.
