KARACHI: People travelling to or from Pakistan can now carry Rs.10, 000 in cash with them, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has announced. The limit is raised by more than three times. India, being the special case, the ceiling has been increased to Rs.3, 000 from Rs.500, the SBP said in a statement. The new limits are particularly for Pakistani bank notes. Besides Rs.10, 000, a passenger can carry up to $10,000 or equivalent notes of another currency while going abroad, according to SBP’s foreign exchange rules. WELLINGTON: New Zealand could introduce a tourist tax of $25 to enter the country. The New Zealand Labour Party has stated that they would introduce the tax by the end of their first term if they got into power. The proposal will create a “Tourism and Conservation Infrastructure Fund” which will invest $75 million back into the tourism economy. DUBAI: Flydubai reported last week, a 9.9 per cent year-on-year rise in revenues and Dh142.5 million in losses for the first half of 2017, with the figure widening from the Dh89.9 million in losses reported in the same half of 2016.The airline attributed losses to higher fuel costs and pressure on yields. However, revenues reached Dh2.5 billion in the first half as an increase in passenger numbers gave a boost to revenues. JEDDAH: Saudi Arabian Airlines (Saudia), the national carrier of the kingdom, has launched its new affiliate low-cost airline Flyadeal during an event at the King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah. Saleh bin Nasser Al-Jasser, Director General of Saudia and Chairman of the Board of Flyadeal, stated that the airline will operate its first domestic flight on September 23 to coincide with the Kingdom’s National Day.
