ISLAMABAD: The Economic Coordination Committee has approved an additional guarantee of Rs20 billion for the Pakistan International Airlines for overhauling of aircraft engines. The government approved bailout package forPIA, the fifth one in less than one and a half year. The Government also enhanced sovereign guarantee ceiling to Rs195 billion to keep the national air carrier afloat. DUBAI: The UAE’s General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) said it has sent the US Department of State a letter describing the intentions of UAE carriers for future Fifth Freedom flights. The letter said that UAE airlines have no current plans to adjust Fifth Freedom services that operate in accordance with air transport agreements. This follows talks earlier this month between authorities from both countries on Open Skies and air transport agreements. GCAA said that it is making available.
