The first event of the series was held on June 26, 2024, at the Marriott Hotel in Karachi. The event featured a press conference, B2B meetings, key speeches, presentations, tourism videos, cultural performances, and an evening networking session.

This marks the second consecutive year that SLCB has organized a Tourism Roadshow in Pakistan. He noted that the current global market size of the MICE business is $1,027 billion and is projected to grow to $1,990 billion by 2031. He emphasized Sri Lanka’s streamlined and efficient visa process, catering to all types of travelers, from budget to luxury.

Mr. Jayasuriya also mentioned the extensive selection of hotels in Sri Lanka, including the upcoming Ritz Carlton property and the new Lotus Tower, which offers breathtaking views. He underscored the emerging properties that are set to transform Sri Lanka’s tourism industry, making it an ideal destination for MICE business.

He spoke about Sri Lanka’s efficient transportation infrastructure, including highways and expressways that facilitate quick transfers from airports to hotels. The transport options range from tuk-tuks to luxury buses and helicopters. He also announced that the government has approved the import of brand-new Mercedes vehicles for customer transportation, with plans to add the latest models to the fleet soon. Additionally, state-of-the-art golfing facilities will be introduced to attract the corporate sector.
