ABU DHABI; Etihad Airways has partnered with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Department of Culture and Tourism to launch a stopover program in Abu Dhabi called the “Abu Dhabi Stopover,” allowing passengers flying through Abu Dhabi to enjoy a free stopover hotel stay and explore the city.

When booking a flight with Etihad online, customers can add a stopover in Abu Dhabi and choose a complimentary hotel for a one- or two-night stay at select hotels across the city.

Abu Dhabi is a treasure trove of activities, from thrilling desert safaris to the serene Saadiyat Beach. For culture enthusiasts, the city offers modern architectural wonders like the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque and the Louvre Abu Dhabi.

Etihad aims to bring over 100,000 visitors to Abu Dhabi through the Stopover program next year. The airline’s boarding pass will serve as an ‘Abu Dhabi pass,’ providing discounts at various restaurants and attractions across the city.

This initiative aligns with Abu Dhabi’s tourism strategy to significantly boost the sector’s impact on the UAE’s GDP, with a target to add Dh90 billion to the country’s economy annually by 2030.

According to the airline, Etihad is a key player in attracting more tourists to Abu Dhabi, with flights to over 70 international destinations from its hub at the Zayed International Airport (AUH), including major cities in the United States.
