AJMAN: Ramada Hotel and Suites by Wyndham Ajman, a premier accommodation at the heart of UAE’s emirate, said its Cluster GM Iftikhar Hamdani has been named ‘Game Changer’ for his innovative initiatives on sustainability at Arabian Travel Awards 2019.
Hamdani, who also manages Ramada by Wyndham Beach Hotel Ajman and Wyndham Garden Ajman Corniche, was handpicked amongst the hoteliers and travel professionals in the region, as a result of the trailblazing environment-friendly practices that are being carried out at his hotels.
Some of the initiatives that he led include an efficient and effective waste management scheme which reduces landfill submission by 90%, and an urban farm project in Ajman, said the statement from Wyndham hotels.
He was also a regular speaker in various conferences in the region and across the globe, raising awareness on the impact and importance of sustainability within the travel sector, it stated.
On the win, Hamdani said: “I would like to thank the organisers, DDP, for recognising all the efforts that our team had done over the years.”
“This is a great honour, and at the same time, an apt opportunity to address my fellow travel and hospitality champions that business and sustainability should go hand in hand. We encourage everyone to check and learn more about the steps that we have taken, and realise that it is not impossible to move forward with the green, sustainable route,” he added.
