DUBAI: The UAE has extended its visa amnesty program until December 31, 2024, according to an announcement from the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security (ICP). This two-month extension allows those in violation of residency regulations more time to regularize their status.
Major General Suhail Saeed Al Khaili, Director General of ICP, noted that the extension aligns with the UAE’s 53rd Union Day celebrations and reflects the country’s commitment to humanitarian values. It also responds to the wishes of violators seeking to settle their status, whether by exiting the country or securing an employment contract to remain legal.
The ICP explained that the decision was informed by recent studies and high demand at service centers as the previous October 31 deadline approached. Al Khaili emphasized that this extension is the final opportunity for violators to settle their status, allowing them to avoid fines and re-entry bans. These benefits reflect the ICP’s dedication to providing individuals a chance to regularize their residency, protect their families, and secure their rights.
According to Al Khaili, the program has seen significant participation from violators seeking to benefit from its advantages. He highlighted the ICP’s cooperation with government and private sector partners to address obstacles some violators face.
Al Khaili stressed that this is the last chance to settle violations; once the extension expires, fines will be re-imposed, and inspection efforts will intensify, with legal action taken against violators found in breach of residency laws.
