He learned to play the drums from his community marching band and has been playing for the past four years. They played the snare drums for the school’s assembly. Essanii had stage freight, so he feared to perform in front of large crowds.

Instead he would go to watch and listen to other drummers perform. One day, he met an exceptional drummer who later becomes his teacher and a good friend. His name was Nafees Khalfan. He inspired Essanii to learn the drums and overcome his fear. Essanii was extremely lucky.

He got the opportunity to learn how to play the drums from Khalfan. Once he learned a good bit from Khalfan, Esaani went on to join his community orchestra. Essanii practiced daily and put in a lot of hard work to further his passion and get good at the drums. He later also joined his university’s music society and some local underground bands.

Once Essanii became a decent drummer, he began to conduct drum circles in Karachi. He would teach the drums to anyone who wanted to learn. He never refused to teach anyone who was willing to put in the time to learn. He also worked with amateur drummers to refine and polish their skills.

He loved the drums. He wanted to share his passion with others. Once an individual learns a skill it is important to share knowledge with others. Essanii had the opportunity to attend Dawn News. He was invited to assist in brainstorming new strategies and tricks to enhance the music.

No matter how excellent of a musician we become, everyone has someplace of improvement. Therefore, practice is essential because no one is perfect. We all need to put in some work. As humans we get bored of listening to the same old type of beats and rhythms. An artist is always creative. They create new music for their audience to enjoy.

Although Essanii doesn’t have much experience as a musician, he has made significant progress over the last four years. His hard work and dedication are evident.

Essanii learned a lot from a variety of different musicians, bands, and community bands and like his teacher wants to share his skills and knowledge about the drums and music in general with others. He hopes to one day bring peace and unity in Pakistan through Music.
