Holland American Line on Friday matched the voluntary cancellation extensions by other cruise lines when it announced that it would suspend all operations through at least March 31, 2021.
Holland, like other lines, said the decision was made in order to give it time to “prepare and develop its plans to meet the Framework for Condition Sailing Order issued by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).”
At the same time, Holland America said that it would also be cancelling sailings of eight days or longer that call in the United States until Nov. 1, a similar move to what Princess, and other lines, have announced recently.
“Holland America has begun to prepare ships and implement procedures to meet all requirements for approval to sail following the pause. More details on the company’s return to cruise will be announced as soon as possible,” Holland America said in a statement announcing the news.
All guests will automatically receive a future cruise credit worth 125%, if a booking was paid in full, or double the amount of deposit, if it wasn’t paid in full. All non-cruise purchases will be refunded to the original form of payment.
The other cruise lines who have made similar moves this week include Princess, Carnival Cruise Line, and Seabourn. All lines say they are voluntarily moving the date back in order to meet the new CDC requirements, which include new rules and protocols for social distancing, mask wearing, and more onboard.
