SINGAPORE: 2022 will see a bit of a ‘Singapore shuffle’ for the Hilton brand, with the iconic Hilton Singapore leaving the group’s portfolio to become part of the IHG Voco chain while the former Mandarin Orchard Singapore will be reborn as the Hilton Singapore Orchard.

First up, the 423-room Hilton Singapore will be rebranded as the Voco Orchard Singapore in January 2022, making it the first Voco to open in Southeast Asia.
Part of the IHG empire, Voco is positioned as an “upscale lifestyle brand… hotels that are reliable enough to depend on, but different enough to be fun.”
IHG touts each Voco as sporting an “individual character”, with the brand as a whole representing “unstuffy hotels, where people feel comfortable to relax, and just get on with relaxing.”
Inheriting the Hilton’s well-established footprint near the western end of bustling Orchard Road, the Voco Orchard Singapore “was the ideal choice for this location” says Stephen Lau, chairman of Singapore-based hotelier and investment holding company Hotel Properties Limited.
“It’s extremely popular with leisure and business travellers and it will fit perfectly in such a prime shopping and entertainment area.”
IHG’s not exactly short of properties in Singapore: the Red Dot roster already lists the InterContinental, Regent, Crowne Plaza and Hotel Indigo, plus several Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express properties.
But Hilton’s not leaving Singapore: midway along Orchard Road, on the block between Orchard Link and Grange Road, the Mandarin Orchard Singapore will become the new Hilton Singapore Orchard once a $90 million make-over is completed in early 2022.
