ISLAMABAD: Green Tourism Pakistan, in collaboration with the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC), has unveiled a series of groundbreaking initiatives to drive investment in the country’s tourism sector.

Key reforms include visa-on-arrival for citizens of 126 countries, visa-free entry for Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) nationals, and expedited visa processing within 24 hours. These strategic measures are projected to attract around $80 million in foreign direct investment (FDI) and generate 8.3 billion rupees in local investment.

To elevate the tourism experience, Green Tourism Private Limited has begun developing four- and five-star hotels, as well as hunting resorts in scenic locations such as Naltar, Hunza, and Skardu. Development work is already underway at 17 of the 78 identified sites as part of the initial phase.

Additionally, the company has secured approval to establish a central agency aimed at promoting tourism and expanding air operations across key destinations. Special safety protocols have been introduced for religious tourists, with particular focus on Sikh and Buddhist pilgrims.

A high-quality Green Guide Program has also been launched to ensure professionally trained tour guides, while a new luxury bus tour from Islamabad to Peshawar offers travelers a chance to explore and experience the region’s rich cultural heritage.

With the backing of the SIFC, the Green Tourism initiative is set to energize the economy and introduce a wave of fresh opportunities within Pakistan’s tourism landscape.
