ISTANBUL: Boeing International President Marc Allen (L) and Turkish Technic General Manager Ahmet Karaman sign a partnership deal in Istanbul, last week.

Aircraft giant Boeing and Turkish Airlines’ repair, maintenance and overhaul (MRO) arm, Turkish Technic have signed a Global Fleet Care Supplier Agreement.

As part of the agreement, Turkish Technic will become Boeing’s strategic partner in line maintenance, heavy maintenance, component maintenance and repair services for its aircraft. The agreement will also allow technician training and certification.

Turkish Technic General Manager Ahmet Karaman said Turkish Technic offers a comprehensive MRO service to its customers in more than 50 international line maintenance points, as well as its basic maintenance facilities in Istanbul and Ankara.

He stressed that they will further develop their service scale at the new facility at Istanbul New Airport as of Oct. 29, 2018.

“This important collaboration agreement we have signed with Boeing will enable all Boeing operators to experience the world-class service of Turkish Technic in aircraft maintenance, repair, training and other areas covered by the Boeing Global Fleet Care program, while providing a great added value to our capabilities and operations in our extremely wide new facility as well as other maintenance and repair centers,” he said.

Boeing and its shareholders in Turkey last year announced a “National Aviation Plan” for the development of Turkey’s aviation industries in line with the country’s 2023 goals.

The National Aviation Plan draws a mutually beneficial strategic framework with Boeing’s investments and programs as well as the Turkish government, Turkish airline companies, aviation service providers and sector suppliers.

Boeing International President Marc Allen said Turkey is one of the major countries they give priority to in the framework of growth rate and potential. “It has an important capability in the field of maintenance and repair. To position Turkey as a global player in aviation services is one of the basic elements of Boeing Turkey’s National Aviation Plan we announced last year,” he said.

“With this new agreement, we will give an important impetus to the successful projects we have implemented with Turkish Technic to date in a way to contribute to the growth of Boeing and Turkey.”

With its Global Fleet Care program, Boeing serves over 2,500 aircraft for more than 60 customers. The fleet engineering solutions provided by the program cover engineering and planning activities related to the management of aircraft’s technical performance.

Fleet Material Solutions, on the other hand, includes spare parts planning, ordering, supplier management, component maintenance and repair, cost reduction and projects on productivity improvement.
