KAGHAN: Lulusar is a group of mountain peaks and a lake in the Kaghan Valley,  Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan it is one of the largest lakes of Pakistan.  In Pashtu language, the word ‘sar’ means ‘top’ or ‘peak’.

The lake which is 48 kilometers away from Naran on the Naran-Babusar road. It will interest our history enthusiast that Lulusar marks the proud place where 55 participants of the 1857 War of Independence were arrested.

The lake is surrounded by snowcapped mountains, making it a natural tourist attraction.  In summers, when the surface reflects its surroundings sharply like a mirror, large number of domestic and foreign visitors makes it a popular destination.

Lalusar Lake is the main source of the Kunhar River, which flows through the entire Kaghan Valley through Jalkhand, Naran Valley, Kaghan, Jared, Paras and Balakot until it joins the Jhelum River.

The best way to to reach the lake is to hire a jeep from the Naran Valley which can take you there in approximately 3 hours. The road has been built around the lake which links the Naran/Basel to Chilas. The same road also leads to Babusar Pass.

It is yet another beautiful tourist magnet in the area which has been properly marketed; neither nationally nor internationally.
