BEIJING: China’s Ministry of Culture and Tourism reports that 782 million domestic tourist trips made during the seven-day National Day holiday from October 1 to October 7. According to the ministry, this is a 7.81 percent increase from last year, with tourism revenue reaching almost 650 billion yuan (about $90.94 billion). “Red tourism,” or revolutionary-themed tourism, has become a highlight. MOTEREAL: The International Air Transport Association (IATA) has launched a campaign to expand the number of women employed aviation by 25 per cent over the next five years, with a particular focus on under-represented areas such as pilots and senior executives. Called 25by2025, the campaign is a voluntary commitment by participating IATA member airlines, with the likes of China Eastern, Lufthansa Group and Qatar Airways already signed up. NEW DELHI: The government will soon invite bids to sell its entire stake in Air India, after potential buyers baulked at an initial attempt to divest a partial stake in the national carrier. “The expression of interest document for Air India will be put out anytime now, at least before the end of this month.
