ISLAMABAD: The spokesperson of the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) said that more than 2 billion rupees have been saved by the national flag carrier after switching over to the new Information Technology (IT) system for the reservation, flight operation, and accounting.
According to the details, a new IT system called Hitit Computer Services, developed by a Turkish-based IT company was implemented back in August 2018 and the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), through this new IT system, managed to save up to Rs2 billion.
It is pertinent to mention here that the key feature of this newly implemented IT system is the significant improvement in the functions on the website which allow the users to make online bookings swiftly and convenient for the public.
The Pakistan International Airlines’ reservations, inventory control, ticketing and check-in procedures, flight operations, schedule, revenue management, accounting, and crew management will use Hitit’s ‘Crane’ Solutions.
At the time of the launching of the new IT system, the spokesperson of the national airline had announced that this system will allow the national flag carrier to work more efficiently, as the new IT system is not cost-effective but it offers an additional value which will hold the PIA in the business activity.
