On behalf of all members of Pakistan Hotels Association (PHA), I would like to congratulate the entire hospitality, tourism and travel trade on this year’s World Tourism Day, globally celebrated each year on 27th September by the United Nation’s World Tourism Organization (UNWTO). As the premier and pioneer apex body of the hotel industry in Pakistan, Pakistan Hotels Association has proven its vital role and is further endeavoring to promote tourism and bring collaboration amongst its members all over Pakistan.
This year the UNWTO’s chosen theme is ‘Sustainable Tourism – A Tool for Development’. It defines the kind of tourism that not only spearheads growth, but also respects the cultural heritage, local population and environment of the host country while providing tourists with a safe, exciting and educational holiday.
With this spirit, World Tourism Day 2017 would provide a unique opportunity to raise awareness on the contribution of sustainable tourism to the development of public and private sector enterprises as well as local communities, while mobilizing all stakeholders to work together in making tourism a catalyst for positive change.
On its part, PHA would like to encourage all stakeholders of tourism and travel industry to come together to mutually discuss and implement the sustainable development of tourist destinations in Pakistan to promote tourism in the country and procure foreign exchange enabling businesses to grow and create employment.
