COLOMBO: The Sri Lankan government is preparing to launch a tourism promotion campaign in key source markets in the coming weeks ahead of the forthcoming winter season. The campaign costing 270 million rupees (US$1.3 million) was recently approved by the Cabinet of Ministers. WASHINGTON: NASA Administrator Bill Nelson visited Orlando International Airport in Florida Wednesday and met with aviation leaders to discuss implementing aircraft flight scheduling technology developed by the agency that will soon improve dependability for passengers, which is especially important during peak travel times like the Thanksgiving holiday. In September, the technology that was tested during NASA’s Airspace Technology Demonstration 2 (ATD-2) was transferred to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). KARACHI: The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has notified a new travel advisory for Category-C countries after the emergence of a new COVID variant, Omicron. The CAA has enlisted 17 countries in the fresh travel advisory, South Africa, Hong Kong, Iraq, Namibia, and Ukrane among them. The passengers traveling from the category-c countries would require permission from the National Command and Operations Centre (NCOC). “They would have to compulsorily provide evidence of full Covid-19 vaccination,” the CAA notified. LONDON: The newly identified coronavirus variant that has spread in South Africa is the most concerning that British health officials have seen as it has double the number of mutations of the Delta variant including some associated with evading the immune response. RIYADH: Saudi Arabia has announced on Thursday, November 25, that it will allow direct entry from six countries including Indonesia, Pakistan, India, and Egypt without spending 14-day quarantine in a third country. The new directive will come into force from 1:00 am on Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2021; the Saudi Press Agency reported quoting an official source of the Ministry of Interior.
