BRUSSELS: The European Union (EU) and the United States will debate next Wednesday on the possible ban on in-flight laptops and tablets in certain flights from EU, according to the European Commission (EC). ‘This Commission will host high-level political and technical talks with US authorities on Wednesday to jointly assess new threats and work from a common prospect,’ the Community Executive spokeswoman Margaritis Schinas stated. DUBAI: Emirates on Monday has announced that it will temporarily cut its daily non-stop service to New York’s JFK down to twice a day. The Dubai-based airline currently operates three flights to JFK. In a statement, Emirates confirmed that the changes will take from June 4 until June 20, and will resume normal operations from July 1. “Emirates can confirm that one of its three daily non-stop flights (EK 207/208) serving the New York (JFK) – Dubai (DXB) route will be cancelled from June 04, 2017 to June 30, 2017. NEW DELHI: IndiGo has announced plans to buy 50 ATR turboprop planes with an aim to tap the regional aviation market. The deal could run into $1.3 billion at list price. IndiGo, which has firmed up an order for 250 A320neo aircraft in August 2015 that could fetch up to $25.7 billion for aircraft manufacturer Airbus, has a fleet of 133 Airbus planes, including 19 A320neo.
