MANAMA: Work on the $1.1-billion Bahrain Airport Modernization Programme (AMP), the largest infrastructure project in the kingdom, is progressing at a steady pace, reported BNA citing a senior minister. Following the revamp, the airport will see a new passenger terminal, 24 airport bridges, new arrival and departure lounges and loading bays. “We have made solid progress with nearly 60 per cent of the infrastructure work already completed,” stated Transportation and Telecommunications Minister Kamal Ahmed. ISTANBUL: Turkish Airlines has announced that it aims to carry up to 74 million passengers in 2018. “Total number of passengers carried is targeted to reach 74 million including 33 million on domestic routes, 41 million on international routes,” the carrier said in a statement. TEHRAN: More than six million foreign tourists visited Iran last year; a top government official was quoted as saying in a media report. “The highest figure belongs to pilgrims and Khorasan Razavi province has allocated the highest number of foreign tourists to itself,” Mohammad Moheb Khodaei, deputy head of Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization (CHHTO) for tourist affairs was quoted in the Irna report.
