ISTANBUL: Flag carrier Turkish Airlines has launched flights from Istanbul to Samarkand in Uzbekistan, the second destination in Uzbekistan after capital city Tashkent. DUBAI: The tourism sector is estimated to have contributed over Dh150 billion ($40.8 billion) to the Dubai’s GDP (4.6 per cent of GDP) in 2017, providing almost 570,000 jobs (4.8 per cent of total employment), said a report. The sector’s direct contribution to GDP has increased by 138 per cent in the 10 years to 2017 with employment in the sector growing by 119 per cent over the same period, according to industry expert Knight Frank. CAIRO: National carrier EgyptAir has announced plans to resume flights to Moscow, starting in April. The announcement comes more than two years after Russia halted flights from Egypt over security concerns, chairman of EgyptAir, Safwat Musallam, said. Starting April 12, EgyptAir will operate three flights a week to Moscow, on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday, with the modern Boeing 737-800 aircraft. Departure time from Cairo will be scheduled at 09:35 and 15:50 from Moscow.
