MIRPUR: Terming Hazrat Mir Syed Ali Hamdani, popularly known as Shah Hamadan, as a great theologian and reformer, AJK President Sardar Masood Khan said that the great Sufi philosopher had got the Kashmiri people liberated from uncertainty, ignorance and inequality of caste system by bringing them into the fold of Islam through his preaching.

He expressed these views while talking to a delegation called on him at Jammu and Kashmir House on Friday. The delegation was comprising renowned historian, Professor Dr. Riaz Ahmed, Director General External Affairs of Hashoo Group, Ali Mehdi, Allama Hussain Ahmed, a scholar and experts on Shah Hamdan and Chief Executive Officer Super Crown Group Dr. Qazi Mujtaba Kamal.

The President said that Amir Kabir Shah Hamdan not only brought the great message of Islam in Kashmir but also revolutionized the Kashmiri society by introducing the people of Jammu and Kashmir with new skills of architecture, agriculture, engineering and different handicrafts, for which Kashmir has become famous ever since. He said that in the present circumstances, we again need reformers like Syed Ali Hamdani and his great teachings to fight the menace of terrorism, extremism and intolerance that have weakened the foundation of our society.

President Masood announced to hold Shah Hamdan International Conference in Muzaffarabad to make our new generation familiar with various aspects of the life and teachings of great Sufi saint.

The President on the occasion also invited one of the members of the delegation and Director External Affairs of Hashoo Group to invest in tourism sector in Azad Kashmir by building a good hotel in Banjosa area of Rawalakot district.

The President AJK told that AJK government is focusing on both traditional as well as adventure and religious tourism by opening and rehabilitating historical buildings, religious sites and archeological places. He said that ancient Sharda University in Neelum Valley and several archeological places in Mirpur and Bhimber districts will be rehabilitated and open for the tourist soon.
