SAIDU SHARIF: Swat valley is one of the major tourist attractions of Pakistan. It is known as the Switzerland of Pakistan and has one of the oldest civilizations and one of the beautiful scenery one could ever see.

After the restoration of peace in the region there is great influx of the tourists in the area. I am sure that a day is not very far when tourists from all over the world will prefer to visit Swat. Swatisare very peace-loving & hospitable and they are always ready to welcome tourists from all over the world. PTDC is trying its level best to make Swat, a mega tourist destination. This was stated by Managing Director PTDC, Ch. Abdul Ghafoor Khan, in a meeting with District Nazam of Swat Mr. Muhammad Ali Shah. Due to unpleasant situation of Swat in the past, the tourists flow to Northern Areas was affected tremendously. He further added students after getting education from Pakistan Austrian Institute of Tourism & Hotel Management, Swat will add prestige to tourism sector in the country. PTDC has three Motels and One Restaurant located in Saidu Sharif, Miandam, Kalam and Chakdara respectively These Motels and Restaurant were built for promotion of tourism when the private sector was shy to invest in this area. These Motels and Restaurant are providing high standard facilities to tourists for the last many decades.

Ch. Abdul Ghafoor Khan said that due to increase of tourists flow to this area prefabricated rooms are being added in the existing Motels. PIA is considering restoring flights to Saidu Sharif and it is hoped that flights will be started soon.

District Nazim of Swat Mr. Muhammad Ali Shah appreciated the role of PTDC all over Pakistan especially in Swat for promotion of tourism. He assured every possible cooperation of District Administration in the field of tourism.
