ISLAMABAD: The Embassy of Uzbekistan in Islamabad hosted an Iftar reception to celebrate the Navruz Day at Marriot hotel Islamabad, marking the arrival of spring and the renewal of life with a cultural gathering that reflected Uzbekistan’s deep connection to this historic festival.

Speaking on the occasion, Managing Director of Pakistan Tourism, Aftab Rana said that this year’s Novruz celebration coincided with the holy month of Ramadan, making it a special time to reflect on the values of generosity and togetherness. He said that this event beautifully reflects the cultural harmony and regional friendship. He also emphasized that tourism is the best way to promote cultural exchange and people to people contacts at regional level. He also appreciated the efforts of government of Uzbekistan to revive the direct flight between Uzbekistan and Pakistan. He assured that PTDC will continue to play a lead role in promoting B2B linkages to develop bilateral tourism between the two countries and other Central Asian States.

In his remarks, Ambassador Alisher Tukhtaev welcomed the guests and shared the importance of Navruz in Uzbekistan’s national identity. He described it as a celebration of new beginnings, one that goes beyond cultural tradition and symbolizes the values of peace, coexistence, and mutual understanding among nations.

Dean of the Diplomatic Corps and Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Pakistan Atadjan Movlamov, appreciated the Embassy of Uzbekistan for bringing together diverse communities to celebrate Navruz and highlighted the significance of such gatherings in promoting mutual respect and dialogue among nations.

The event featured an atmosphere of festivity and warmth. Guests were treated to traditional Uzbek cuisine, including the special Navruz dish sumalak, prepared from sprouted wheat and served to signify blessings, patience, and community spirit. Adding to the occasion were performances by young Uzbek children, who presented traditional songs and dances. Their participation reflected the continuity of cultural heritage and the importance of passing traditions to future generations.

The celebration brought together ambassadors, diplomats, government officials, cultural experts, media representatives, and members of the Pakistani community to join in the festivities that highlighted Navruz as a unifying occasion with deep regional roots.
