PARIS: Air France-KLM Group has signed a memorandum of understanding for 60 Airbus A220-300 aircraft to modernise its fleet. ANKARA: A new codeshare agreement between Turkish Airlines and Bangkok Airways was signed on Thursday, 1st August, Turkey’s national flag carrier announced. In a statement, Turkish Airlines said the partnership will provide passengers with convenient travel connections from Turkey to destinations in Thailand and other cities in Southeast Asia. COLOMBO: Sri Lanka announced Wednesday it will give a one-month free visa on arrival to visitors from nearly 50 countries in its latest effort to revive the island nation’s lucrative tourism industry that was badly hit by the Easter bomb attacks that killed 263 people. BEIJING: In its latest effort to increase pressure on Taiwan, Beijing said it will suspend a program that allowed individual tourists from 47 Chinese cities to travel to Taiwan, citing the current state of relations between the two sides. The ban is effective from August 1, according to a statement Wednesday from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, and means that Chinese nationals can only travel to Taiwan as tourists if they’re part of tour groups.
