Air France-KLM has announced the retirement of its A380 superjumbos as Chief Executive Officer Ben Smith reshapes the fleet to cut costs and boost margins. The U.S.’ four-year slide in global market share of international travel shows no signs of abating, according to forecast figures from U.S. Travel, a non-profit organization that represents the travel industry. From a peak of 13.7 percent in 2015, market share was 11.7 percent in 2018. GENEVA: Airlines around the world carried 4.4 billion passengers on scheduled services in 2018, an increase of 6.9 per cent over 2017, representing an additional 284 million trips by air, according to figures released by the International Air Transport Association (IATA).
