KARACHI: Launching the inaugural meeting on April 22, 2024, with UNIDO’s Mr. Steffen Kaeser, Chief of Division of SME Competitiveness, Quality & Job Creation, Vienna, Austria at the helm, we embark on a collaborative endeavor to craft Destination Investment and Management Plans under the PAIDAR program, “Poverty Alleviation and Inclusive Development across Rural Sindh”, a five-year program funded by the European Union to support the Government of Sindh in implementation of its Poverty Reduction Strategy through Sustainable Tourism Development initiatives.



The long-term objective of PAIDAR is to contribute to sustainable poverty reduction and improvement of livelihoods of poor women, men and young people across Sindh province through encouraging investment in tourism sector. These plans initially target Keenjhar Lake, District Thatta and Drigh Lake, District Qambar Shahdad Kot, catalyzing public and private sector investments for sustainable tourism growth. The project is aligned with the UN Convention on Wetlands, the initiative underscores our commitment to the prudent utilization and preservation of wetland resources, as set forth in the Ramsar Convention of 1971.
