On the occasion of World Tourism Day today, I pay tribute to the spirit of exploration, curiosity, and passion for travel among tourists and all those associated with the tourism sector in Pakistan and around the world.
Beautiful natural landscapes, ancient historical monuments, cultural heritage, and diverse cultural traditions are among the fundamental attractions that drive tourism. By the grace of Allah Almighty, Pakistan holds immense potential in the tourism sector, with its breathtaking natural scenery, rich cultural and civilizational heritage, and historical and religious sites.
The government is working to promote domestic tourism, improve tourism infrastructure, and create employment and development opportunities for local communities and young people associated with the sector. The government is committed to presenting Pakistan to the world as a safe, attractive, and competitive tourist destination.
Pakistan’s moderate climate, pleasant mountain environments, and picturesque valleys possess tremendous potential to attract international tourists. The land of Pakistan is home to thousands of years of ancient civilizations and a rich cultural heritage, including the Indus Valley and Gandhara civilizations. In terms of religious tourism, Pakistan is home to important historical and sacred sites for followers of Sikhism, Buddhism, and other religions.
The promotion of tourism at the national level contributes to economic development and stronger relations among countries. At the individual level, gaining exposure to diverse cultural traditions plays an important role in enhancing human capabilities and broadening perspectives. Attention to tourism and recreation is, in essence, a reflection of a healthy mind and positive priorities.
Let us all work together and play our constructive role in harnessing the immense potential of Pakistan’s tourism sector, so that we can showcase our hospitality and rich cultural heritage to the world.
