MUZARABAD: To promote and explore the new destinations for adventure lovers, the Tourism Department of AJK organized a Snow Cross Jeep Rally which was ended after roved the snow covered track towards Ganga Choti of District Bagh here on Sunday, February 26. The rally was participated by the members of Muzaffarabad Jeep club, started from Muzaffarabad on 25th Feb. The purpose of the rally was to promote the proposed tourism corridor, a fear weather track starts from Saran Jehlum valley towards Chikar, Sudhan Gali, Lasdana, Tolipeer and ends at Deevi Gali of District Poonch.
“We have planned about 132 kilometer road which connect four districts of AJK and construct on international standard” said the Secretary Tourism Mansoor Qadir Dar while talking to newsmen and participants of the rally at Chikar.
Tourist motel where the closing ceremony of the rally took placed. He said that the Tourism Department has the provision to promote adventure tourism of the area. For that purpose the Department has organized the events like mountain jeep rally, paragliding, white water rafting and other events. “We encouraged the youth to participate in healthy events like snow cross jeep rally for this purpose the Department of Tourism is going to trained the youth, he added’’. He said that the route of proposed tourism corridor has marvelous sightseeing landscapes, waterfalls, thick forests and fantastic atmosphere for tourist. Mr. Dar said that the Department has planned to establish tourist resorts on this 132 kilometers track on 5 to 10 kilometer distance. It will be unique track which have all the basic facilities for visitors like tuck shops, rest places, accommodations and quality food. A participant of the rally Mr. Fahad Mustafa described the journey to cross the snow through Jeep “a strenuous”. He said while sharing his experience of driving to cross the snow on the track that this was first time for me to cross the snow on this area which is so cold in the morning. We remember this journey because the track also has captivating scenic Beauty all around it.
