LONDON: WTM London is insisting it will go ahead in London this November as planned despite the Covid-19 pandemic.
While other November travel industry events, such as the British Travel Awards, have been switched to virtual formats, WTM says it will take place at ExCel just as in previous years.
Organisers refused to answer questions about whether it will be a scaled down event or whether there will be more flexible cancellation terms for exhibitors in light of the pandemic uncertainty.
Announcing the plans to press ahead, WTM London senior exhibition director Simon Press said: “Now, more than ever before, WTM London will be so important to restarting the global travel and tourism industry, on which the livelihoods of so many people depend.
“It’s also essential to highlight that the safety and wellbeing of our guests remains our highest priority and we will continue to follow the advice of the UK Government and Public Health England.
“The Covid pandemic is evolving daily and future updates on the event will be shared with our exhibitors, partners and media”.
The event is usually held on the first week in November at London ExCel, which was transformed into a temporary Covid-19 hospital earlier this year with capacity for to 4,000 patients.
