ISLAMABAD: To celebrate the resumption of British Airways flights to Islamabad a grand iftar-dinner reception was hosted by Trans-Continental Services (Pvt) Limited, the GSA of British Airways World Cargo and IAG Cargo in Pakistan on Monday, 27 May at Serena Hotel, Islamabad.
The reception was attended by leading freight forwarders and consolidators from all over Punjab, representatives of CAA, senior management of the handling agency of the airline SAPS, officials of British Airways in Pakistan, including Cargo Country Manager Rashid Paracha, Airport Services Manager Faisal Shirazi and Shoaib Hashmi Customer Services Manager Pakistan.
Representing TCSL at the reception were Mr. Asad Tariq-CEO, Muhammad Ilyas-Director, Mr. Haseeb Akram-General Manager Pakistan, Mr. Salman Latif Commercial Manager North Pakistan, Syed Furqan Commercial Manager Sialkot and other senior representatives of the airline’s GSA.
In his welcome address Haseeb Akram GM Pakistan TCSL said that with their presence in all the major export centers of Pakistan and offices located strategically at the Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad airports and in Sialkot city TCSL was well placed to perform its vital role in providing top-class export cargo transportation services to the business community of Pakistan. He added that TCSL would continue to pursue its policy of neutrality and good relations with all respected freight forwarders.
Addressing the gathering Rashid Paracha, Cargo Country Manager BAWC and IAG Cargo, said that the airline’s three weekly flights and approximately 200 tons monthly capacity, plus interline support, would benefit the export freight market of Pakistan. He pointed out that the BA services would give a good boost to Pakistan exports to Europe, UK, South America, USA and Canada.
As part of the celebration to mark the resumption of British Airways flights to Islamabad a cake cutting ceremony was also held at the iftar-dinner reception in which senior officials of the airline and GSA participated.
