KARACHI: PIA is going to suspend its New York operation by December this year and booking has been minimized by 50 percent from Thursday, October 5.
It has been learnt that the airline has stopped making reservations for PIA flight PK-721 operating from Lahore to New York on October 10, however, flight PK-711 operating on October 07, is still available in system.
It was mentioned earlier also that New York sector was making annual losses of around Rs. 500 Million and it was not even meeting its Direct Operating Cost (DOC). It is said that due to poor marketing, weak services and lack of planning the airline was facing losses on such important sector. Whereas foreign airlines are operating on daily basis for New York with good meal, with state of the art and with most modern In-Flight Entertainment System, low fares and above all young, smart, efficient and willing to serve crew members.
