KARACHI: The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has finalised the draft of new aviation policy in order to regulate and facilitate all local players to revive the aviation sector. The proposal policy has been sent to the federal cabinet for formal approval. The policy will be implemented after Federal cabinet approval.
This was decided after an extensive discussion with the heads and the representatives of other airlines as well as general aviation operators in a meeting held at the Civil Aviation Headquarters. It was presided by CAA Director General, Shahrukh Nusrat.
The proposal would be sent to the federal cabinet for formal approval.
The CAA said that the new policy would have a number of “direct and indirect benefits and incentives for airline operators, pilots/cabin crew and most importantly the passengers travelling by air within Pakistan.”
Earlier Federal Minister for Privatization and Aviation, Muhammad Mian Soomro, had announced plans for a new aviation policy in the light of the recommendations from the national and regional stakeholder. In his address to the inaugural session of a three-day regional conference on safety standards in aviation, held in Islamabad, Soomro added that the new policy would work on ensuring safety standards in aviation, facilitate public along with focusing on logistics.
