CHAKWAL: A jeep rally was organized by Tourism Development Corporation Punjab (TDCP) in Chakwal on Sunday, 7th April to promote tourism in the province. The rally was led by Federal Minister for Health Aamir Mehmood Kiyani and Punjab Minister for Higher Education and Tourism Yasir Humayun Sarfraz.
Speaking before start of the rally, Minister of Health Aamir Mehmood Kiyani said the government is committed to develop and promote tourism in the country.
He said Pakistan is second to none in beauty and negative propaganda against the country will have to be tackled.
Provincial Minister Yasir Humayun said Punjab is the largest province of Pakistan and the provincial government is taking practical steps to promote tourism.
Pakistan’s fastest emerging female rally driver Salma Marwat Khan added another feather to her cap and won the inaugural Chakwal 4×4 challenge off-road rally.
Salma displayed perfect control on steering as she raced her vehicle through difficult terrain to complete the track in mere in 22:09.40 minutes to finish the race as the winner in women’s category.
This is the fourth off-road title for Salma who emerged on Pakistan’s motorsports scene recently and has participated in eight different races. She has previously won Hub Rally, Sawat Rally, and Sarfranga Rally titles.
