DUBAI: : Etihad Airways has expressed early interest in a total or partial takeover of Italian carrier Alitalia after the Abu Dhabi-based airline submitted on Friday a non-binding offer for the stake, a source has confirmed. Italian media reported that Etihad was one of 10 companies submitting offers for Alitalia. The International Air Transport Association has announced progress of its New Generation IATA Settlement Systems (NewGen ISS) with the selection of Edenred and Multiservice Technology Solutions to implement the EasyPay payment solution for travel agents in more than 100 markets. Travel agents can set up and fund the new EasyPay e-wallet to pay for airline tickets issued through the IATA Billing and Settlement Plan (BSP). WASHINGTON: The United States has ended the laptop ban on all US-bound flights from certain airports in the Middle East and North Africa, according to the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS). According to an astonishing research report, released last week by World Animal Protection (WAP) that more than three quarters of the 3000 elephants they assessed was living in ‘severely cruel conditions.’ The researchers claim that an increased market for elephant tourism, including activities such as elephant rides, is fuelling elephant cruelty. The WAP research was carried out in Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Sri Lanka, Nepal and parts of India.
