MADRID: The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) has a close partnership with World Tourism Organization (UNWTO). In 2011 UNESCO accepted Palestine as a full member. Palestine applied for full membership in UNWTO also. This triggered a US law which cut off American funding for any organization that recognized an independent Palestine. The US had previously paid for 22 percent ($80 million) of UNESCO’s annual budget. LAHORE: To facilitate further the leisure and business travellers to Thailand, the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has announced a special offer of 40 percent discount on fare between Karachi and Bangkok. The PIA as an introductory offer on its three weekly flights to Bangkok has reduced its fare along with free baggage allowance of up to 40 Kg per passenger. The special 40 percent discounted fare between Karachi and Bangkok is valid till November 30, 2017, spokesman for the airline said.

MIAMI: Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL), will sign a contract to order four Boeing 787 Dreamliners, joining a fleet of 27 other aircraft, composed of Airbus A319, A320 and A340-500, Boeing 757-200 and 767-300, and Embraer ERJ170-100LR and ERJ 190-100 aircraft. “We are proud that Azerbaijan is buying six new airplanes from Boeing,” said Elin Suleymanov, Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to the United States. “This marks the latest investment by our country in American-made products, the American economy and in American workers.” In 2015, the Baku-based carrier received their first Dreamliner at Boeing’s Charleston, South Carolina facility. LONDON: Due to consistent efforts and hard work by national tourism agency VisitBritain/VisitEngland, the latest figures released by the British Government shows that show that an extra £872 million in visitor spending was generated across the UK in 2016. KUWAIT: The Kuwaiti government has announced plans to complete three major airport projects, being built at a total investment of KD1.45 billion ($4.79 billion), over the next three years, said a report. The biggest of the three is the KD1.31 billion ($4.33 billion) Kuwait International Airport, which is being built by Turkish Limak Construction Company.
