DUBAI: Emirates has unveiled plans to launch a new daily route from Dubai to London Stansted, commencing on June 8, 2018.Emirates will be the first Middle Eastern airline to operate out of the popular North East London airport. The daily route will be operated by the airline’s new three-class Boeing 777-300ER offering customers six seats in First Class, 42 in Business Class and 306 in Economy Class. LONDON: The British Airline Pilots’ Association (BALPA) is advising passengers to make sure any gifts containing lithium batteries are carried in hand luggage rather than checked in. They say poorly packed parcels of cameras, laptops, phones and toys containing lithium batteries could pose a fire risk because poorly manufactured batteries, or those that are damaged or inappropriately packaged, can short circuit or fail, releasing harmful gasses or causing high intensity fires that can spread quickly. ABU DHABI: Etihad Airways will be suspending flights to the Iranian capital, Tehran, from January 2018, it has emerged. The decision, part of the airline’s strategy review, will come into effect from January 24, said a report in Reuters. Etihad’s five weekly flights to Iran’s capital will be reduced to two a week between December 25 and January 23, before it suspends the route entirely on January 24, said the report citing an airline spokeswoman. Passengers booked to travel after then can switch to an alternative travel date between December 25 and January 23 or be refunded, the spokeswoman said.

KARACHI: The Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has introduced executive economy class for its Jeddah and Madinah routes, for the convenience of Umrah passengers. “The PIA passengers traveling for Umrah can now avail the facility of executive economy class where they will be served business class cuisine and will have an added advantage of 5kgs excess allowable baggage free of cost,” a spokesman of the national flag carrier said. NEW YORK: The Boeing 747, the original jumbo jet that was the favourite American presidents and key to affordable mass market air travel in the United States, passed into aviation history last week.
