Pakistan & Turkey | Discuss PIA Up-Gradation

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Turkey Thursday, 15 February discussed ways and means to extend mutual interest and cooperation in different avenues, particularly in the arena of Information technology for up-gradation of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA).

The discussion took place during a meeting held between Turkish Ambassador to Pakistan Mustafa Yurdakul and Advisor to the Prime Minister on Aviation Sardar Mehtab Ahmad Khan here in the capital. Other high officials of PIA and Aviation Division were also present on the occasion.

“The officials discussed the affairs to extend mutual interest and cooperation in different avenues, particularly in the arena of Information technology to upgrade the level of PIA, said a press release.

The envoy appreciated the Advisor for taking revolutionary measures for restructuring of PIA and betterment of Aviation sector in Pakistan as well as to restore the national flag-carrier’s image and operations.

Sardar Methab Khan said Turkey and Pakistan were enjoying a “long-lasting bond of true friendship” and they shared the same sentiments of brotherhood for each other. He said the countries had been friends and supporting each other in war and peace times.

He said the PIA was reinstating its lost positing in international dome and “we are very vigilant and concerned to upgrading its operations. We acknowledge the importance and growing demands of IT and National carrier requires best IT system to improve its standards and operations, so that it could be brought at par with other airlines of the world.” He appreciated and thanked the Turkish Ambassador for joining hands with the PIA and extending its IT services for the up-gradation of IT system in PIA.

Turkish Ambassador assured the Adviser that the existing cooperation in the aviation sector between the two countries would continue and get further strength in coming days. He said, “We are ready to work closely to provide further assistance to the Pakistan in the aviation sector.” The Adviser said Pakistan and Turkey were enjoying strong ties, which are getting further strength with each passing day.
