Tourism Consolidation | India To Have First Tourism University

The oldest and best known Hospitality and Tourism Group of Institutes of India,   International Institute Of Hotel Management (IIHM) with campuses at Kolkata, Bangalore, Delhi, Pune, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Hyderabad and Bangkok, and IAM with campuses at Goa, Kolkata and Guwahati has decided to form the India’s first-ever Tourism University named IIHM University in West Bengal under the WB Pvt University Act.

IIHM is the only institute in India having over 40 MoUs and academic collaboration with the world’s top institutions. The institution is planning to organize the biggest Culinary Olympiad for Young Chefs of the world, where over 50 nations take part in India. IIHM Group has over 6500 full-time students in India and Thailand.

IIHM has a strong vision of creating one of the World’s Best Centre of Excellence in Tourism Studies with courses in Tourism Development, Hospitality & Tourism Studies, Eco-tourism, Sustainable Tourism and Tourism in Digital World, among others.

Not only the students, but also the mentors at IIHM have also assisted in creating a multicultural environment that is quite helpful in building a global character of their students. A highly dedicated and professional team of more than 300 tutors, mentors and professors belonging to different nationalities who are experts in their chosen disciplines help students learn enthusiastically.

IIHM is investing over Rs. 150 crores in setting up the University out of which Rs. 70 crore has already been invested towards setting up the infrastructure and state-of-art facilities in Salt Lake Electronic Complex Sector 5.

Dr. Suborno Bose, the Main Promoter and CEO of IIHM Group said, “Our vision is to co-create one of the finest Tourism University in the world, which will strive to provide huge employment opportunities for the students in West Bengal.”

Padma Shri Awardee Sanjeev Kapoor said, “I am happy to be associated with events of a global scale that are being organized in India like Young Chef Olympiad by IIHM and Dr. Bose.”
