ISLAMABAD: In order to promotion responsible tourism in Kalasha Valleys of Chitral District, Sustainable Tourism Foundation Pakistan (STFP) has published a new travel guide under the title of “Kalasha Valley Travel Guide and Hotel Directory” with the support of UNESCO Pakistan. The main focus of this Urdu travel guide is to provide accurate information to domestic visitors about the sensitive Kalasha culture, their way of life, festivals and information about the places of tourist interest in the three Kalasha Valleys. Moreover, it encourages domestic visitors to follow the guiding principles of responsible tourism with a view to minimize their impact on the natural and cultural environment of this area.
This travel guide is authored by Aftab Rana and photographs have been contributed by Imran Shah, Luke Rehmat and Aftab Rana. Special illustration on responsible tourism has been contributed Mrs. Huma Wasiq.
These 54 pages guide book is full four-color publication. It has 50 high quality color photographs of tourist sites and Kalasha culture, 13 color illustrations on responsible tourism, a color tourist map of Chitral Valley and information more than 35 hotels and guests houses of Chitral Valley. With a view to promote trekking and hiking in Kalasha Valleys information on different trekking routes is also provided in this guide book.
As the main mission of Sustainable Tourism Foundation Pakistan is to promote eco-friendly and culture friendly responsible tourism in Pakistan, therefore, a code of conduct for tourists has been developed and printed to create awareness among the visitors about traveling in this beautiful valley without creating harm to its natural environment and culture of its people.
