MULTAN: The Tourism Development Corporation Punjab (TDCP) Multan has sent a feasibility report to the provincial government to develop an island resort on a lush green piece of land in the middle of a natural lake near Taunsa Barrage.
The idea was floated by local MPA Muhammad Ashraf Khan Rind following which the TDCP Multan was assigned the task of carrying out a feasibility study. A survey has been conducted and the feasibility report sent to the TDCP head office Lahore.
The green lush area around Taunsa Barrage is already a tourism spot for citizens. Access to the proposed island resort is a two km boat ride from the bank of the River Indus. The TDCP Multan has proposed building huts there for families.
Due to the availability of water and greenery, the area has become a natural habitat for wild deer, wild swine, drakes and migratory birds. The proposal included facilities such as hunting points, jeep safari and a tent village. The TDCP officials said the island resort, was owned by the irrigation department.
