KARACHI: With the title of ‘Pakistan Tourism Industry-Opportunities & Prospect’ Landmark Communications organized an event of panel discussion by the leading figures of the travel, hotel and tourism industry along with the Honorable Governor Sindh Mr. Muhammad Zubair at Governor House last week.

The event focused on highlighting the immense tourism potential of Pakistan in light of the significant improvement in economy as well as law & order situation. Panelist included Mr. Ali Hamdani, CEO – Landmark Communications (pioneer of Pakistan Travel Mart), Mr. Muhammad Rafiq Khan, Chairman – Bukhari Group, Mr. Waqar Ali Khan, Secretary – Tourism, Sports, Archeology and Culture Department Gilgit Baltistan, Mr. Asjad Ghani, General Manager – Tourism Development Corporation Government of Punjab, Mr. Mazhar Abbas – Analyst, GEO TV, Mr. Iftikhar Hamdani, Cluster General Manager – Ramada Hotels Ajman, Mr. Haseeb A Gardezi, Chief Operating Officer – The Hashoo Group and Babar Khan, Ad Secretary, sports culture, tourism, archeology, museum and youth affairs KPK.

Attendees were included top management of local and international airlines, travel agencies, hotels, government officials, Counsel Generals and Senior Media Personnel.

Landmark communications is going to organize 2nd of Pakistan Travel Mart (PTM) from 2nd to 4th October 2018 at Expo Center Karachi.

Pakistan Travel Mart (PTM) is an annual international travel and tourism expo. The Mart promotes the enormous tourism potential of Pakistan and attracts the international tourism into Pakistan. 2ndPakistan Travel Mart shall integrate, consolidate and globalize Pakistan’s travel industry by providing a platform to all the stakeholders. It will provide a platform to promote inbound, outbound and domestic travel in Pakistan and explore prospects in Pakistani market. Countries around the world brand themselves with their tourism however Pakistan completely lacks such branding despite having immense potential.

The participants and attendees highly appreciated the efforts of M/S Landmark Communications for branding Pakistan as tourism friendly country.

In his keynote address Sindh Governor Muhammad Zubair said that Pakistan is blessed with the most beautiful and mesmerizing places on earth and the country’s economy could be boosted manifolds by attracting foreigners and local tourists.

During the interactive session, Sindh Governor said that that Pakistan was blessed with a variety of landscape including mountains, deserts, plains and rivers. “We have been blessed with all four seasons and there are thousands of historic places and buildings situated in the country,” said Governor Muhammad Zubair.

The Sindh Governor said that Pakistanis from each and every city visited northern areas in the summers, and foreign tourists also came to Pakistan for mountaineering and hiking. “A peaceful environment coupled with excellent infrastructure would go a long way in motivating tourists to visit Pakistan again and again,” opined the Sindh Governor.

Muhammad Zubair said that the condition of roads leading to tourist destination should be improved. He laid special emphasis on the availability of affordable accommodation and food at tourist destinations

“These measures would result in increase in tourism in that particular area,” he added.

While emphasizing on the need of a proper awareness campaign about distinctive tourist destinations and the facilities available there, Governor Sindh said that proper marketing was needed to highlight tourist attractions. “Majority of Pakistanis are unaware about the beauty and sceneries of northern areas specially Gilgit Baltistan,” expressed Muhammad Zubair.

The Sindh Governor said that K-2, Nanga Parbat, Lake Saif-ul-Malook, Taxila, Moen-Jo-Daro, Mahr Garh, Sadho Bela, Nankana Sahib and various other castles, forts and temples in the country held immense tourist appeal. “Many sacred places for the followers of various religions are also located in Pakistan,” he added.

Lauding the upcoming Pakistan Travel Mart program, Sindh Governor said that the participants from around 20 countries would develop a better understanding of Pakistan’s tourist destinations through the program. “Delegates from tourism industry would interact with each other during the event and it would facilitate close cooperation among various stakeholders of the industry resulting in improved service to tourists,” he added.
