WASHINGTON: Boeing has said it needs more time to finalise a software upgrade for the grounded 737 Max plane. The aircraft manufacturer has been working to update a stall-prevention system linked to two fatal crashes in five months. A fix has already been issued, but Boeing has now confirmed the update will not be ready to enter service until the “coming weeks”. SINGAPORE: Singapore Airlines Ltd. found “premature blade deterioration” during routine inspections of some plane engines, leading the carrier to ground two Boeing Co. 787-10 aircraft in a widening turbine problem for Rolls-Royce Holdings Plc. CALIFORNIA: Princess Cruises and leading shipbuilding group Fincantieri have signed the final contracts for the construction of two next-generation 175,000-ton cruise ships, which will be the largest ships ever built so far in Italy, with deliveries scheduled in Monfalcone in late 2023 and in spring 2025. LONDON: Liability claims related to the Ethiopian Airlines crash and the grounding of Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft could be the largest non-war aviation reinsurance claim on record, hitting reinsurers’ profitability, reinsurance broker Willis Re said. The crash of Ethiopian Airlines flight ET 302 on March 10 killed 157 passengers and crew, the second deadly crash involving a Boeing Co 737 MAX 8 airliner in five months. LONDON: On March 26th, Airbus rolled out the second All Nippon Airways (ANA) A380 from the paint shop, at its Hamburg factory. The second A380 is the Emerald Green, livery, and will be delivered to the airline this year, bearing the registration JA382A. ANA took delivery of their first A380 last week and Airways was present at this event. ANA plans to operate its inaugural A380 flight, with its Sky Blue A380 JA381 on the 24th May.
