KARACHI: The Sindh government is planning to invite private investors to develop Hawke’s Bay beach with three-star hotels and huts for which it has cancelled leases and is going to have to evict and demolish 254 huts. This strip of beach is KMC land and stretches 5km and approximately 387 acres. It is flanked by beach owned by KPT and the Board of Revenue. The beach has an A, A1 and S series. KARACHI: PIA flights will continue to operate to bring back Pakistanis already in Saudi Arabia, the airline’s spokesperson confirmed after the kingdom’s decision to suspend arrivals from 20 countries, including Pakistan. The ban was placed from 9pm Wednesday, February 3, the PIA spokesperson said. The ban has been imposed in the wake of a new wave of coronavirus. LONDON: British Airways has announced a new trial of the Verifly health passport app, allowing customers to verify Covid-19 test certificates before they leave home for their flights. The trial begins on February 4 on all of the carrier’s transatlantic routes between London and the US (currently New York JFK, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Miami, Washington, Houston and Seattle). RIYADH: Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Interior has announced a temporary suspension of entry to the kingdom of travellers from 20 countries from February 3 including India, UK and the US. The suspension does not apply to Saudi citizens, diplomats, health practitioners and their families. MOSCOW: Russia has extended the suspension of air service with the UK until 23:59 Moscow time on February 16 to protect public health, Russia’s anti-coronavirus crisis centre was quoted as saying in a media report. PARIS: France has announced it is closing its borders to people arriving from outside the European Union starting January 31 to try to stop the spread of new variants of the coronavirus, said a report.
