Di: Saudi Arabia’s King Salman bin Abdulaziz has approved the official symbol of the riyal currency, in a historic move aimed at strengthening the Kingdom’s national currency, financial identity, and economic presence, as announced by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

Ayman Mohammad Al Sayari, Governor of the Saudi Central Bank (SAMA), explained that this decision will bolster the Kingdom’s financial identity both locally, regionally, and internationally.

The new currency symbol will be implemented immediately and gradually integrated into financial and commercial transactions, as well as various applications, in coordination with the relevant authorities.

Al Sayari emphasized that the initiative is designed to foster pride in the national identity, reinforce the Saudi riyal’s prominence and boost confidence in it. It will also showcase the Kingdom’s standing among the world’s major economies and the G20, underscoring the increasing importance of the national currency within the global financial system.

Al Sayari expressed his gratitude for the tireless efforts that led to this achievement, extending appreciation to all parties involved in the project, including the Saudi Central Bank, the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Information, and the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organisation.

Al Sayari praised the tireless efforts that contributed to this achievement, expressing his appreciation to all parties involved in the project led by the Saudi Central Bank to adopt the national currency symbol. These parties include the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Information, and the Saudi Standards, Metrology, and Quality Organization.

According to the statement, the symbol of the national currency, designed to the highest technical standards, reflects the Kingdom’s rich culture and heritage. The symbol features the name of the national currency, “riyal,” in a design inspired by Arabic calligraphy.

This new symbol will strengthen the representation of the Saudi riyal in local, regional, and international contexts, making it well-suited for use in all financial and commercial transactions.
