CAIRO: The Egyptian government has introduced a series of new immigration policies aimed at boosting tourism and attracting more visitors.

One of the key changes is the introduction of a 96-hour free transit visa, now available at all Egyptian airports. Previously limited to EgyptAir passengers, this policy has been expanded to include other local carriers and will remain in effect until the end of April 2025.

Additionally, during the summer months, travelers arriving at Luxor-Aswan International Airport on Egyptian airline flights will be eligible for a free emergency entry visa. This offer applies to nationals from countries that allow emergency visa entry.

The list of countries eligible for the emergency entry visa has also been expanded to include South Africa, Kazakhstan, Armenia, Georgia, and Azerbaijan. These nations have also been added to Egypt’s electronic visa portal (E-visa), further widening the scope of visa-free access, as reported by Egypt Independent.

These new measures are part of Egypt’s broader strategy to stimulate its economy by enhancing its appeal as a tourist destination.

Egypt is famed for its breathtaking attractions, such as the Pyramids of Giza, including the Great Pyramid and the Sphinx, which are iconic symbols of ancient civilization. Luxor’s Valley of the Kings offers a deep dive into Egypt’s rich history with its elaborate tombs, while the temples of Karnak and Abu Simbel showcase magnificent ancient architecture. Cairo’s Egyptian Museum houses a vast collection of artifacts, including the treasures of Tutankhamun, and the Red Sea resorts like Sharm El Sheikh and Hurghada offer beautiful beaches and vibrant marine life.
