GUIZHOU: A new mega bridge, part of the Pingtang-Luodian Expressway, has opened in Guizhou province, south-west China.

Both the Ziyun-Wangmo and Pingtang-Luodian expressways opened to traffic earlier, reducing travel time between Ziyun and Wangmo to 50 minutes and that between Pingtang and Luodian to an hour.

The two expressways are expected to help boost tourism and improve the lives of local residents.
The construction of the cable-supported viaduct started in April 2016 with a total investment of 1.5 billion yuan (215 million U.S. dollars).
Guizhou used to be one of China’s most isolated regions. Nowadays, it is known as the “museum of bridges” due to a great number and various types of bridges with complex technologies built over decades. Figures from the provincial government show that by August, Guizhou was home to 47 of the world’s 100 highest bridges.
