KARACHI: SKAL International Karachi – the Prestigious Club of Travel and Tourism, conducted Election on completion of its two-years of inauguration. Mr Amin Wali Mohammad is elected as the President for next two years’ tenure 2019-2020 while Mr Furqan Abdul Kader, Syed Baqar Mahdi and Mr Noor Mohammad have been elected as the Vice Presidents. Mr Khadim Rasool has been reelected as the Secretary of the Club. Syed Javaid Hasan, outgoing President has also been re-elected as the Director & immediate Past President. The other newly elected directors of the Board are: Mr Yahya Polani, Mr Anwer Rasheed, Mr Abbas Mehkri, Mr Rafiq Khan, Mr Hanif Rinch, Mr Junaid Abdul Kader, Mr Danish Dossani and Mr Rafey Ali Khan.

Syed Javaid Hasan, outgoing President (2017-2018) chaired the Annual General Meeting of SKAL International Karachi wherein Official result of election was announced and Office Bearers took oath and charge was handed over in a graceful ceremony organized on 3rd May 2019. In his farewell speech Syed Javaid Hasan recalled the inauguration of SKAL International Karachi in December 2016. He apprised that it was a privilege and honour to serve the Club as the Founding President which provided a forum to interact with the stakeholders, travel and tourism professionals. Several networking meetings were held with Government circles, Country Heads of Airlines and other renowned personalities. The Club in collaboration with the Sindh Tourism Department and National Association – TAAP also organized and celebrated World Tourism Days. Sincere efforts were made to enhance the membership base to add senior travel and tourism professionals in the club. He asserted upon the need to encourage young professionals to join the club and hoped that Mr Rafey Ali Khan who was appointed as the Convener of Young Skalleague Committee shall play a vibrant role in this regard. He cordially felicitated the newly elected President and Office Bearers and Club Secretary Mr Khadim Rasool and Deputy Secretary Ms Tahira Bhojani and the Directors for their support during his tenure as President and assured. He concluded with renewal of his assurances to the newly elected President, Office Bearers & Board of his best advisory to achieve the objectives of the Club.
Mr Amin Wali Mohammad, newly Elected President (2019-2020) in his welcome speech recognized the efforts and services of the outgoing President Syed Javaid Hasan and the Board. He stated that to hold the office of President is an honour as well as an important responsibility. He voiced that he will try his level best to achieve the desired objectives of SKAL as per its charter and outreach travel and tourism professionals for enhancement of club membership. To fulfil the Mission regular SKAL activities shall be organized to develop friendship and harmony professionals in the industry. He added that the club will encourage and assist in the professional development, especially young people working in or training for the travel and tourism industry. International and Regional Clubs shall also be contacted for inter-relations and exchanging information related to trade to benefit Pakistan’s tourism industry for business collaborations and cooperation. He concluded with his sincere gratitude to the retiring and newly elected Office Bearers and Board of Directors and urged to extend their support to achieve the goals of the Club.
Speaking on the occasion eminent Tourism personality Mr Yahya Polani felicitated the newly elected President and Board and recognized the services of the retiring President and his team. He stated that the sitting Government had accorded genuine attention to promote Pakistan’s Tourism. Introduction and issuance of E-Visa for Tourism for nationals of 175 countries reflects Government’s seriousness. He emphasized to adopt Turkish Tourism model in Pakistan to achieve a milestone in tourism promotion. He also asserted upon the need to restore tourism back with the Federal Government because nowhere in the world tourism portfolio was devolved to Provinces. He focused that Pakistan had also sorts of Tourism and great tourism assets which are source of attraction for all the civilizations and religions. He appreciated that the tourism promotion in Pakistan will lead to more job creations and poverty alleviation.
Mr Hanif Rinch also spoke on the occasion and endorsed the submissions of Mr Yahya Polani. He also asserted upon the need to place back tourism portfolio with Federal Government and urged all the stakeholders for collective efforts to play their meaningful role in this regard. He congratulated the newly elected President and Board.
The meeting also felicitated Mr Khawaja Jehanzeb on his nomination as Member Working Group in the Pakistan Tourism Coordination Board constituted by the Prime Minister of Pakistan. Mr Khawaja Jehanzeb also exchanged views and briefed about the Tourism Promotion activities of the Tourism Coordination Board.
